Tic-Tac-Nose...(Part Deux)

A couple of years ago I wrote this post when Zach stuck a Tic-Tac up his nose while I was driving down the interstate. I thought he had learned his lesson. (Because apparently peppermint Tic-Tacs burn when thrust up ones nostril) I thought that we wouldn't be going down this road again. I thought the days of sticking things up his nose were days of yorn. I thought. A few weeks ago we were here at home. I was cleaning up from supper and Zach was relaxing on the couch before bedtime. I came into the living room after washing the dishes to check on him and he was setting on the couch crying. I asked him what the problem was and when he responded it was with a voice that immediately sent me back to that summer day on the interstate. The nasal voice. His response was "My gum is stuck in my nose". He was so calm! He was crying a little but not the hysterical cry that you would imagine, more like a quite little teary. After close investigation I discovered that his bubble gum was, in fact, stuck way up one side of his nose! You want to know what the trouble with bubble gum is? IT STRINGS!! My poor tweezers will never be the same again. Well, after much pulling and blowing and "I swear Zach if you ever stick something up your nose again it will stay there until you graduate High School!" the gum finally came out. So, I only really have question: How in the world does one get gum in his nose? If you guys can figure that out, well then your better than me cause friends, I have no idea!

Why I Haven't Blogged In A While...

I know that I haven't been on here in a few months. (I also just noticed that I have begun to say that a lot) It has been a very busy couple of months here! I thought I would share with you some of the adventures we've had already this year. Every February we take a little mini vacation to Oak Haven Resort in Gatlinburg, TN. They have some beautiful cabins in the Smokey Mountains. If your ever in that area you should check them out. Here are some of our photos from that trip.

In March Zach, My Mom and I took a week long trip to Dallas, TX. You may remember that my sister moved there in October, and my Mom's sister also lives in the Dallas area so we went to go see them. We had a blast and got to see so much! We went to an Aquarium, the Dallas Zoo, toured a tank museum at Ft. Hood, and went shopping A LOT!

The best part of the trip was seeing my family. I haven't seen my little sister since October and I missed my niece "sweet cheeks" like you would not believe. I don't get to see my Aunt but once every few years so it was so nice to see her. Here are some of the pics from our trip.

--Can you even believe how BIG my Zachary has gotten? Sometimes I look at him and it just amazes me that he is so big!

Well, that is all that I have for now. I am working on constructing an actual post :) I have a few ideas about a few things I want to talk about, but I have a few more things to sort out first.

Talk to you guys later!

New Year New Look (And Some Ducks)

Hello All! How do you like my new look? I have had the old one for three years now and decided it was time for a change. Plus my subtitle was "Life With A Toddler" and now that my little big man is now four I didn't figure that would do anymore either.

So for now it is "Life As A Mommy" until I can think of something better. I am open to suggestions :) Creativity was never one of my strong points.

Well, I think that is all that I have for now. I will leave you with a video of me and my sister Stacee trying to feed some ducks at a local lake yesterday.

I will warn you there is some screaming (hers not mine)

I need to assure you that at no point and time in this little video was anyone in any danger. My sister has a tendency for over reacting.

Sorry that the quality was so bad, but it was taken from a camera phone, in my car, from my sister who is, well, over reacting.

Talk to you guys soon!

Grace Is For Sinners

If you have been reading with me for any amount of time you have heard me mention Serena Woods.

She is the author of one of the best books I've read in a long time. It's titled "Grace Is For Sinners" The title says it all, friends. It is a raw reminder that grace is not predetermined...if your good. It's not something that you have to earn or work for. Its not even something we deserve.

Grace is for you.

Grace is for me.

Grace is for sinners, it's for all of us.

Earlier this week on Twitter Serena gave a video of her testimony for her church. With her permission I am sharing that video here because:

A) I want you guys to know that "Grace Is For Sinners".

B) I love Serena's heart, and her love for the Lord. Because her story is not an easy one to hear, let alone tell. She has went through the pits of hell and came out on the other side with her message that it doesn't matter what it is.......You are forgiven, and you are loved.

Don't forget to mute the music at the bottom to watch the video.

So, pour you a cup of coffee, get comfy and let me introduce to you my friend Serena.

The Itsy Bisty Spider

My friend Lona wrote this post about finding a spider in her shower. It made me laugh so hard coffee shot out of my nose at an alarming rate.

Lona, my medical bill for the third degree burns to my nose holes is in the mail :)

Anyways, I commented this little story to her post, but then decided to share it here.

I know! Don't the three of you that actually read this feel so lucky?

The other day we were at my Mom's house and Zach and my niece were playing outside. My sister and I was looking at a magazine while the kids played quietly. When all of a sudden Zach lets out this terrible scream one of those "something is freaking wrong" screams and starts shaking all over.

I thought he had set down in a yellow jackets nest because I had been battling one for the past 10 minutes.

Seriously, that sucker has a warrant out on me! He chased me all over the yard, and even between cars! So I was certain he has went for my offspring instead.

I go running to see what is wrong.

I jerk Zack up and start looking him over for injuries.

And then I find the culprit.

This guy...

He had a Grand Daddy Long legs crawling up his leg and he was terrified!

Now, I myself don't really have a "fear" per se of spiders. I don't necessarily care for them but its not really a fear.

My fear is of the creatures with no legs. Blah... lets not even talk about those now...shew!

So, I save the day once again like the awesome Mommy that I am.

Then I promptly went around the corner of the house where my traumatized baby couldn't see me and laughed my ass off.

I know, I'm great!

Stupid Texas!

OK before you guys that are actually FROM Texas go and get mad at me for that title let me explain. I have NO ACTUAL PROBLEM with the state of Texas.

My baby sister's husband has been in Iraq for the last year and she and my niece have been staying here in North Carolina with us.

Well, he is coming home soon. I am so happy that he has made it back safe and sound! BUUUUT...that means she will be leaving with my niece (Sweet Cheeks) back to Ft. Hood.

Seriously, now you know why I call her sweet cheeks.

I don't really know what I'm going to do without them. I hate more than anything to see her go. Its bittersweet really, I am so glad that she gets her husband back, because I am very aware that so many don't. But a little piece of me will be going with her.

I just want her to stay here with me. Because, you know, Texas is stupid!

Why?

Zach is in a phase. To be totally honest its not really a fun phase.

Its the dreaded WHY phase!

I hate this phase. Seriously, you can't tell the boy something without his automatic response being "why?".

"Zach put your coat on we have to go."

WHY?

"Come on Buddy it's time for bed."

WHY?

"Please don't hit"

WHY

"Eat your dinner, please"

WHY

You see, it don't matter what you tell the boy, the response is going to be "Why?" You answer that question, and the response is "Why?".

So, my question is this...

WHY?
